Pilsung Students Pay it Forward!!!

Pilsung Students and Family Members stepped out of their comfort zones and into the servant role of true community leaders today.  A group of our students opened their hearts and lent IMG00048their talented hands and strong backs to support a great ministry in our community – The Lord’s Pantry at Anna’s House, located at the corner of New York Street and Elder Avenue.

The Lord’s Pantry at Anna’s House is a volunteer ministry established 20+ years ago.  It has grown from a “street corner” food mission to what it is today.  Serving as both a food pantry and a hot meals program weekly, Anna’s House was built 3 years ago through the generousity of the local building trades groups and companies.   The Lord’s Pantry serves over 500 families in our community, providing hot meals and a source of grocieries to help meet their weekly needs.

Today’s Food Pantry distribution effort started at about 9am.  Pilsung and a number of other volunteer groups and individuals descended on Anna’s house with a single mission, to distribute KINDNESS.  Our mission was to help the community and make sure everyone was met with a smile and an honest friendly greeting.  The crew quickly set up the serving lines and tables, cleared the debris, and prepared to great our guests.  Starting around 10:30am men, women, and children from the local area began to arrive and receive food and those smiles and friendly greatings.  Over the course of about 2 hours the Lord’s Pantry delivered on it’s mission, distributing food and support to over 200 families.  Pilsung Volunteers assited in all aspects of the operations, from setup and garbage removal, to greeting, assisting guests through the line carrying bags and boxes, to distributing various food types to guests as they came through, finally lending all available hands to the clean up effort.
